THE GREAT SOUTHERN SMOKEOUT STORY
Great Southern Smokeout returns bigger and better for 2024 as a feature event on the regional calendar. Originally coined the Narrogin Flaming BBQ Festival, this project is the initiative of Narrogin Rotary Club with all proceeds fed back into the local community.

The Rotary Club of Narrogin is part of the worldwide movement, Rotary International, respected for its high values and standards.
Solving complex and pressing problems takes real commitment and vision. Rotary members believe that we share a responsibility to take action to improve our communities.
As a not for profit volunteer run organisation, The Rotary Club of Narrogin has conrtibuted substantially to dedicated programs for youth, the wider local community and international projects.

✔️ Sponsorship of high school students attending the school's Canberra Tour.
✔️ Organisation and sponsorship of 30+ Students to go on International Student Exchange.
✔️ Sponsorship of high school students attending week long Science forums in Perth, including talks with Nobel Prize winning scientists and current researchers.
✔️ Sponsorship of buses to take primary school students on multiple leadership camps.
✔️ Sponsorship and presentation of the primary school sporting shields.
✔️ Supplying book prizes to local primary schools.

✔️ Narrogin Flaming BBQ Festival (now Great Southern Smokeout)
✔️ Managing the finances of the Narrogin Street Numbering Program for other community groups.
✔️ Sponsorship of the Xmas Late Night Shopping and providing free use of the bouncy castle.
✔️ Hire of the bouncy castle and train for community and private events.
✔️ Purchase and erection of Road Safety Education signs on the bike path in Sydney Hall Park.
✔️ Supporting community events by manning the bouncy castle at events such as the Show and Spring
Festival.
✔️ Co organised and marshalled the Spring Festival street parades.
✔️ Supporting the St Vincent de Paul Xmas hamper program.

✔️ Organising, financially supporting and supplying accommodation for 35+ students from 10 countries as part of Rotary's International Student Exchange program.
✔️ Supporting the Rotary’s End Polio program. Almost successfully completed.
✔️ Donating Shelter Boxes, tents, equipment and supplies that are sent as international aid following disasters such as earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions.
✔️ Collecting and transporting no longer needed medical equipment to East Timor.
✔️ Collecting and transporting excess medical supplies to overseas countries such as East Timor.
✔️ Supporting ROMAC. Rotary's overseas medical support fund.
✔️ Supporting Rotary's International Support Programs.
✔️ Our Sponsor Child, Kum Kum, in India. An earlier sponsor child was in Central America.
✔️ District grants support WA people to go overseas
eg. Build rainwater collecting catchments in Indonesia, Disability support in Nepal.
✔️ Part of Rotary foundation - in 100 years spent more than $4 Billion dollars on life saving sustainable projects.
